When YOU ARE GONE...
Tonia O. Alabi

Recently, I woke up to a beautiful music, the slow Apala music by a Nigerian legend, Ayinla Omo Wura (Ayinla the son of Wura) and I thought to myself, "What a legacy."
His very sonorous and melodious voice was slithering through the air to my room where I laid on my bed. One cannot but agree that his music was good works. The lyrics were well put together to stand the test of time.

I was about ten years old when he was acclaimed a very popular musician. As young as I was, I did enjoy his music whenever my parents played it early Saturday mornings. At parties, when Ayinla's music comes on, the guests flood the floor and you see people beam with smiles as they do the matching dance, which is quite enticing, slow but fanciful.

Hmm, so much for Ayinla's talent, which got me thinking. Ayinla is gone but he lives on even in 2016. Even my grandson enjoys watching us do the steps and he is even learning to dance to Apala music. I am sure in some 40years to come his children will ask him whose music he is listening to. Oh! What a legacy.
Ayinla's God's given gift, well used keeps him alive forever. Glory to God.
Yes, glory to God Almighty who is the giver of all good gifts.
What is your God given gift?
Have you been able to find what makes you unique?
How are you putting your talent to use?
Is it making people glorify God or Satan?
Your talent should not be kept hidden forever. Do not be like the wicked servant in the Holy Bible. (Luke:19:20- 24,) who said he kept his gold coin in order to give it back to the master who gave it to him, when he comes back from his travel. He said he knew his master to be one who takes more than he gives, a wicked master for that matter.

The house of God could be your stage to show of your talent, grow it, and perfect it for a bigger stage-the world., so stop hesitating, take a bold step today. Show off what makes you unique as God,'s creation and see where He would take you.
Let yourself be remembered even when you are gone (be it a change of location or even a departure from this world), that God's name will be glorified for your sake.

Be a winner in Christ.

So soon…It’s Lent Again

Having Ash Wednesday begin so soon again in February makes it difficult for me to understand. I usually accept the fact that I must just roll with it. Ready or not, Lent is here and I will accept that and keep on doing the best I can!

The Heavy Burdens We Carry »

I have been thinking a great deal about my experience at Reconciliation this past Saturday. I felt an intense and unexplainable urge to go and confess my sins when I woke up that morning. I try to go every six weeks or so, but this was no routine visit to the priest for me. I needed to unburden myself of the numerous venial sins I had committed since I last participated in this Sacrament.

When Your Faith Is Put to the Test - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon»

Friends, we come now to the Second Sunday of Lent, and we’re on both dangerous and very holy ground with the first reading from the twenty-second chapter of Genesis. The ancient Israelites referred to it as the “Akedah,” which means the “binding”: Abraham binds and is ready to sacrifice Isaac at God’s command.
