The Two As One
Tonia O. Alabi

The man shall leave his family to be one with his wife. Many wedding invitation cards carry this Bible verse. God encourages wives to submit to their husbands.
One now wonders why most couples have the problem of worshipping God together as one. This situation usually occurs in mixed marriages, where each of the couple comes from a different religion or denomination. The couple find it difficult to decide which church or faith they should follow.

I say this should not be the case, because our God is a God of Wisdom. All the couple has to do is to pray together and submit to the will of God. He will surely give a direction.
The difficulty to make a choice of faith or church arises out of pride, the inability to see the seriousness in the way of worship or the lack of faith in God.

For us Catholics, we are called to evangelize. If you who wants to bring the other person into the fold is not consistent or even committed in the way you serve God in his house, by taking part in church programmes, then how can you succeed in bringing your spouse into the fold.

Many times we do so much to condemn the other's faith or church than to lovingly and humbly sell our own faith. Let us always acknowledge the fact that God is for us all and He, only knows the good servants. In our discussion with our spouses on which way to go, let us stress more the need to be of one accord, and be one in the presence of God.

Let the woman submit where she knows the husband's faith is true and will help the family develop spiritually and draw closer to the All Knowing God. Where the man sees the wife's faith is stronger and can lead them to the Kingdom of God then let Him concur and try to develop his spirituality too.

Let us not be the ones to confuse our children by failing in our duties to show them the true faith. Allow the true love of God to prevail and you will not be misled or lead others astray.
Whichever way, let us always come together to pray and worship God in our homes. He is the one and the same God who created the world. Be one in Christ, and be a winner in Him.

We become hopeful. We are no more listening to the other views prompting us not to allow peace. We then put away our pride, and show more confidence in our being in control of the situation. Then we start handling the situations more maturely. We are no longer thinking of our self but of God winning the battle of life once again.

I know God been ever faithful will bounce in, take up the battle and make us victorious. Our seemingly hopeless relative, friend or situation will turn out remorseful and become what we have been praying for.

Put pride away, think mercy, show mercy and our families, our world would become more peaceful and all we have lost will be restored. Be a winner in Christ.

So soon…It’s Lent Again

Having Ash Wednesday begin so soon again in February makes it difficult for me to understand. I usually accept the fact that I must just roll with it. Ready or not, Lent is here and I will accept that and keep on doing the best I can!

Our Faith

The Heavy Burdens We Carry »

I have been thinking a great deal about my experience at Reconciliation this past Saturday. I felt an intense and unexplainable urge to go and confess my sins when I woke up that morning. I try to go every six weeks or so, but this was no routine visit to the priest for me. I needed to unburden myself of the numerous venial sins I had committed since I last participated in this Sacrament.

After salvation, many young Christians wonder if there's anything more to their newfound faith than just the security blanket of "being a Christian." When Your Faith Is Put to the Test - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon»

Friends, we come now to the Second Sunday of Lent, and we’re on both dangerous and very holy ground with the first reading from the twenty-second chapter of Genesis. The ancient Israelites referred to it as the “Akedah,” which means the “binding”: Abraham binds and is ready to sacrifice Isaac at God’s command.
